Camp C.A.N.O.E. (Children with Autism Need Outdoor Experiences), is open to children with autism, grades K-12.  Camp C.A.N.O.E. is a summer day camp designed specifically for children with high functioning to mildly severe autism.

An experiential education like no other. Children and youth learn life lessons, such as independence, leadership, and self-confidence, in an environment designed specifically for children with Autism. Camp is made up almost entirely of teachable moments. Through fun and hands-on experiences, campers have opportunities to grow and develop the skills needed to be productive, successful adults.

Camp C.A.N.O.E. will be held at Camp DaKaNi, a beautiful 33-acre wooded campground in Oklahoma City, which has been owned and operated by Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma for more than fifty years.

The mission of Camp Fire and Camp C.A.N.O.E. is to build caring, confident youth and future leaders.  While each day will be filled with a variety of outdoor activities to enhance the development of social, motor, and sensory processing skills, the safety of campers is a top priority.  Additionally, all counselors have received standardized camp training plus specialized Camp C.A.N.O.E. education.

We attempt to meet the needs of campers, however, Camp DaKaNi is not a full special needs camp. Campers must be able to maintain self-care in the form of using the restroom (we will provide reminders if needed) and eat food and drink water on their own, and be physically able to walk around camp. Before enrolling in Camp C.A.N.O.E. we suggest you contact us about your camper's needs.

Health information should be filled out immediately following application, so staff can evaluate your camper's needs to see if Camp C.A.N.O.E. is a good program for your camper.
